The first edition of the Maratón Gran Canaria ’20 LaLigaSports, scheduled for May 22, 23 and 24, 2020, is postponed due to the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and the recommendation of the health authorities.
The conversations in the last days between the marathon director and the relevant authorities from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city council and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria have concluded that the best solution is to postpone the event.
In the next week the new dates of the race will be officially announced. The marathon will be still included in the national calendar, following the protocol stipulated by the Real Federación Española de Atletismo.
The registered runners will keep their inscription for the new date. Nonetheless, in the case they are unable to attend the event, they will be allowed to give their place to another runner for free or change it for an inscription to next edition marathon, with dates and location to be determined.
The organization understands the inconveniences that this decision may cause, but it has the only purpose of ensuring the safety of all the participants. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
